Methods for installing both Rotors and Spray Bodies for your DIY Irrigation System. Component installations for both Blu-Lock and Conventional Tubing.

There are several ways to accomplish the same objective when installing Rotors and Sprayers. None of them are 100% right or wrong but certain methods can provide benefits such as simplifying installation and providing versatility for movement once your installation is complete.

For illustration purposes we will assume that Rotors have a 3/4” Female Pipe Thread (FPT) inlet and a Spray Bodies have a 1/2” FPT inlet.   The same concepts can be applied for components with larger threading.

Rotors (3/4" FPT)

The above illustration shows installation of the rotor using a kwik tap saddle and a 3/4" swing joint to connect to the spray body inlet. 

NOTE: Rotors come with a nozzle tree. Each nozzle has a different performance. We recommend using a "Hold Up Tool" like this Hunter Model to install the nozzle.

Spray Bodies (1/2" FPT)

The above illustration shows installation of the spray head using a kwik tap saddle and a 1/2" swing joint to connect to the spray body inlet. 

NOTE: Spray bodies do not come with nozzles. You need to select the appropriate nozzle based on your yard. 

Methods for Installing Rotors and Spray Bodies

We will now look at the various methods for installing Rotors and Spray Bodies for your Sprinkler System;

• Connecting to a Mid-Way point in your Distribution or Lateral line.  Illustrates methods using both Saddle Tee Fittings and Insert Fittings
• Connecting to the end of a Distribution or Lateral Line using either Blu-Lock or Insert Fittings
• Method for connecting your line fitting to your Rotor or Spray Body using either Nipple Fittings or Swing Joint Assemblies
• Using Cut-Off Risers and Schedule 80 Nipples and Extentions
